The area known originally as Logan Ridges was changed to Park Ridge in the early 1890’s to reflect the park like nature of the region. Timber getting, and farming were the main activities and in the early 1920’s after failed attempts at tobacco farming the area became predominantly a poultry area.
Park Ridge had a population of 2,328 with a median age of 54 in 2011. It has always been regarded as a very closely held area with property holding terms one of the highest in the Brisbane area. Now it is a thriving developing area with several new residential housing developments within the area. These include “The Rise’, “Chambers Ridge” and many others along Green Rd and Park Ridge Rd.
Park Ridge is well serviced with the recently upgraded shopping centre at Park Ridge Town Centre with both Coles and Woolworths and great cuisine and coffees. An extensive Vet Hospital has recently been upgraded catering for all veterinarian needs for Park ridge and adjoining suburbs.
The area is also serviced with excellent schooling boasting well regarded and esteemed State and Private schools. There is Park Ridge State School, Park Ridge State High School, Parklands Christian College and St Philomena Catholic Private schools.
There are in the pipeline considerable expansion in infrastructure within the area in line with Logan Councils aggressive expansion programs. These include additional retail facilities as well as areas set aside for Commercial Development while maintaining the Park like nature of the region.
