Forestdale was gazetted as a suburb in 1987. It is a recent Rural residential development, so named as a result of a lack of tree clearing while the suburb was being developed. It has a reference to “Robin Hood” and is why a large number of streets are named as they are with reference to the old English tradition. Most homes are larger and sit on extensive blocks of land. With ever expanding development in the south eastern corner, this Estate with its larger homes and blocks is commanding strong interest for families wanting this leafy fresh lifestyle.
As you drive through this suburb you can only be amazed at the size and style and the diversity of homes available. The newer areas are seeing the introduction of extensive modern lifestyles that still maintain the leafy exterior. It is in close proximity to Forest Lake and Browns Plains with easy access to Logan Motorway.
In the middle of the suburb, nestled privately away is the extensive Greenwood Lakes wetland area. With its board walks and nature trails this area is a haven for wildlife and birdlife. It abounds in the area along the lakes and the banks of the Oxley creek. The area has previously been sand mined.
